Sinner by Maggie Stiefvater

Synopsis: "A standalone companion book to the internationally bestselling Shiver Trilogy.
Sinner follows Cole St. Clair, a pivotal character from the #1 New York Times bestselling Shiver Trilogy. Everybody thinks they know Cole's story. Stardom. Addiction. Downfall. Disappearance. But only a few people know Cole's darkest secret -- his ability to shift into a wolf. One of these people is Isabel. At one point, they may have even loved each other. But that feels like a lifetime ago. Now Cole is back. Back in the spotlight. Back in the danger zone. Back in Isabel's life. Can this sinner be saved?"

Review
FINALLY FINISHED THIS BOOK. You have no idea how long it took me. In all fairness, however, I did re-read the entire Shiver series books so I could remember everything. The downside of re-reading the series is that I loved them so much, that I had high expectations for this one.

This book was not like the rest of the series. I expected a lot of wolf and maybe Stiefvater could've given me a little Sam and Grace? Nonetheless, it was a cute book (I say "cute" in a positive way). This book was mostly centered on Cole and Isabel in L.A. The only wolf aspect of the book is that Cole turns himself into one whenever he feels depressed and wants to take drugs. After he turned into a wolf when it was cold, I expected the wolf part of the book to get a little more problematic and serious, but Stiefvater kind of just totally ignored it after that.

Cole is the best (in today's language I'll say: Cole is bae). The reason is that he can totally put up an act, when inside he has feelings and all that jazz. I can also picture him as smoking hot, so that's a plus as well. Isabel sometimes annoyed me, I have to say. She was too emotionless and then the end happened so quickly and all of a sudden she had all of these emotions, saying "I love you" with a huge smile on her face. Excuse me but that is not Isabel-like at all.

I didn't really understand the plot, since the wolf thing was very minor. It was basically Cole doing his show and Isabel working and Cole calling Isabel, repeat. I really wasn't too satisfied with this book; it wasn't one of Stiefvater's best, but nonetheless still good. I really wanted some Sam and Grace though. :(

Title: Forever
Series: The Wolves of Mercy Fall #3 (LAST ONE!)
Genre: Romance, Fantasy, Wolves (yes, wolves gets its own genre :D )
Pages: 388
Ages: 13+
Date I Finished: August 22nd, 2012
My Rating: 5 Stars
Book Format: Hardcover (Library)
My Word/Phrase: SUSPENSEFUL ENDING

Review: This is one of my favorite poems in this book. I was going to type up page 306, because I LOVED how Stiefvater wrote it, but GoodReads doesn't let me do tabs to put space after each line. (You'll know what I mean if you look at page 306.)
"endlich entsch sich niemand
und niemand klopfte
und niemand sprang auf
und da stand niemand
und niemand trat ein
und niemand sprach: willkomm
und niemand antworte: endlich
...
at last no one decided
and no one knocked
and no one jumped up
and no one opened
and there stood no one
and no one entered and so one said: welcome
and no one answered: at last"
(378)
(2 years so far of German paid off ;) LOL even though there were translations in the book)

HELL YES. This series......oh my god, I already miss it :(. THE CHARACTERS: How does Stiefvater make characters like this from her brain? Like,

Isabel: The bitchy one that cares about you without saying it out loud.

Grace: The girl that thinks of everything positively (most of the time), and is friends with Isabel. She has so much to deal with in life, yet she's strong and pulls through, just like Sam, Cole, and Isabel have done as well.

Sam: The guy that cares about Grace in every way. Translated: The guy of my DREAMS. He'll do anything for Grace and the wolves, even if it means being a wolf himself again.

Cole: The hot, good looking, famous guy that realized the quality of life. OH MY GOD I was like, DEPRESSED when something happened at the end that I won't tell you about. I was thinking: BOOKS ARE SUPPOSED TO HAVE HAPPY ENDINGS! (That's my motto from now on ;) ) But, of course, this book quickly stitched my heart back together and the ending was ABSOLUTELY PERFECT.

Speaking of the ending...............WOW. SUSPENSEFUL. When I woke up today, I was like: "Maybe I'll read a chapter or two." and instead I ended up reading the last 50 pages of the book. The whole time I was reading the ending, my hands were gripping the book tightly and I my mind was whizzing by the words as fast as I could. I needed to get to the ending because you can't just stop in the middle of a suspensful part, no no no. Anyway, like I said I'm depressed that this series is over :(, albeit I'll never forget it.

The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater

Synopsis: "It happens at the start of every November: the Scorpio Races. Riders attempt to keep hold of their water horses long enough to make it to the finish line. Some riders live. Others die.
At age nineteen, Sean Kendrick is the returning champion. He is a young man of few words, and if he has any fears, he keeps them buried deep, where no one else can see them.
Puck Connolly is different. She never meant to ride in the Scorpio Races. But fate hasn’t given her much of a chance. So she enters the competition — the first girl ever to do so. She is in no way prepared for what is going to happen."

Title: The Scorpio Races
Series: NO SERIES :'( But I wish there were!
Genre: Fantasy, Romance
Pages: 404
Ages: 11+
Date I Finished It: July 28th, 2012
My Rating: 5 Stars
My Word/Phrase: WHY IS THERE NO SERIES? and VERYVERY CREATIVE PLOT
Book Format: Hardcover (from library lol)

Review: I. WANT. MORE. When I finished this book , I was SO SAD it ended. I just fell in LOVE with this book (and maybe Sean Kendrick too ;) ) from the beginning. At first, I was slightly confused about the whole "water horses" part, but once I read more through the book I began to realize why they are apart of the island. Now I kind of want to live on an island where Puck and Sean live and ....wait- enough with my fantasy. Let's get to the book.

The almost main thing I loved about this book was the characters. They were so well put together. Also, Puck and Sean's realationship was progressively built and was written beautifully. You already know, but I HAVE loved Sean Kendrick since the beginning of the book and I wish to be like Puck :'). They are so cute together though, so I could not break their relationship (literally because they are fictional characters! :) ).

The other reason why I loved this book was the whole concept of it. The way Stiefvater described the island, water horses, and the Scorpio Races was so creative and visionary. Overall, this whole idea of The Scorpio Races got me since the beginning of the book and I really wish there were a sequel, but I even searched online if there was going to be a sequel and there is not :'(. But I will never forget The Scorpio Races and how beautifully written it was.

Oh, how I wish I had a guy like Sean Kendrick in my school... :(
